Julie Frederiksen

Julie Frederiksen grew up in Charlotte, NC, and attended Boston College, where she received bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and English. After graduation, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology from East Carolina University before returning to Boston to earn a master’s degree in nursing from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She is dual-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a family nurse practitioner (FNP) as well as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). With more than 20 years of experience, including a decade working in neurology, Julie specializes in psychiatric care and treats a wide variety of patients. She is an avid sailor and enjoys spending time with her family outdoors.

Jennifer Humphreys

A native of North Carolina, Jennifer grew up on a farm outside Charlotte, where she developed a love of the outdoors. After earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, she obtained her master’s degree in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). In 2017, she earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (DNP), also from MUSC, putting her at the very top of her profession. Jennifer’s nursing background includes six years in the surgical intensive care unit and three years in the emergency department. Her experience also includes treating acute and chronic conditions in children, adolescents and adults. Jennifer, who counts her caring nature as her greatest professional attribute, treats patients with a wide variety of psychiatric conditions, including unipolar and bipolar depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder and attention deficit disorder for patients age 12 and older. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

What is a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP)?

Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) are nurse practitioners that specialize in the treatment of mental health. They assess and diagnose patients suffering from mental illnesses, disorders, and substance abuse problems. Kelly Palmer is a Greensboro (NC) native and moved to Wilmington in 1989. She has two grown daughters, loves live music and adores her pet kitty. She has worked in the mental health field since 2015.
